The renowned architectural team Herzog & de Meuron has a reputation for innovative, strikingly detailed metal and glass façades. We partnered with them on their first New York City project, which called for curved, green custom glass to cover the entire surface of this exclusive, multi-story condo building. The vision was to simulate a glass skin vacuum-stretched over the vertical and horizontal façade beams, which would, in turn, lend structural support to the frame. We were part of a team of professionals called in to help realize this challenging vision. Our expertise in custom glass fabrication and cast glass and lamination techniques helped with the technical realization of the design. We also helped the architects find a manufacturer that would meet the project’s budget without compromising its aesthetic goals.
