Art Glass: Processes & Possibilities
Art Glass can involve many different processes to derive form and shape. That is why it is important to understand the different options, so one can decide which process they would like. Here I have decided that in order to best convey the possibilities, I will outline the different processes to help inspire you. Art glass can also be combined with other materials and lighting techniques to net even a wider range of possibilities.
Theory vs. Reality: Engineering, Modeling, and Testing Two Laminated Glass Public Projects
Due to internal material variables and external site conditions—and the multitude of problem combinations they can create—unique glazing projects in varied environments require physical testing and full-scale mockups. These are critical to assessing performance, materials, visual effect, optics and esthetics, and provide a level of assurance not obtainable through virtual engineering models. When projects include complex engineering problems, only full-scale testing can confirm, refine, or redirect creative problem-solving.
More than Skin Deep: The Right Materials Create Lasting Impact
Every project I undertake must achieve four goals: visual impact, durability, ergonomic performance and safety. For most creative people, the “visual impact” part is the easiest to understand. Our clients hire us to design objects that help create the experience and communicate the personal statement they want their space to make. Our marquees, grand staircases, doorways, and other pieces must be visually stunning and help our clients reinforce their core message with visitors. Delivering this for them is our greatest satisfaction.
