Floor-to-Ceiling Custom Glass & Stainless Steel Wine Rack and Lighting System

For the restaurant of the Mandarin Orient Hotel in New York’s AOL Time Warner Center, designer Toni Chi wanted an architectural space that would equal the lobby’s glamour but keep the focus on the fine food and stunning Central Park view. We created the architectural glass and metal floor-to-ceiling wine rack that is the dining room’s main focal piece. Besides engineering the slender suspended stainless steel system that holds up to 2,500 bottles in the wine rack’s temperature-controlled chamber, we designed an internal custom lighting system that would individually illuminate each bottle, turning the entire rack wall into a sparkling bejeweled display for their extensive wine collection. Our fabricators coordinated each element including the structure and fitting the custom glass with the coordinated lighting fixtures.
