Philippe Starck’s vision for the Clift Hotel was “modern luxury with an edge” – an idea that was embodied in the oversized, glowing Louis XIV-style table he wanted as the centerpiece for the Redwood Room bar. From this concept, we developed this cross-shaped table of handmade, back-carved, mirrored glass custom fabricated in France, set into a mirror-polished stainless steel support structure. We also engineered the internal coordinated lighting and complimentary climate control system, which air-conditions the massive piece of custom metal furniture from the inside to keep the lights from overheating the materials. Our French carved glass and lighting was also used for the serving bar.
