Muse Hotel

New York, New York
Stainless Steel & Frosted Glass Marquee, Columns and Detailing
Design/Engineer, Engineer, Value Engineer, Consult, Fabrication, Installation

For this Times Square hotel, we worked with architect Philip Koether to design and engineer a marquee from custom glass and stainless steel, but swapping their uses to add mystery and an otherworldly feel, evoking the Muse of the title.  The light, loose matrix of thin stainless steel creates the illusion of floating glass, while the textured, frosted and laminated glass, which is illuminated at night, actually provides strength and architectural integrity. Using a masterful combination of architectural metal and glass, we continued this modern Greek theme through the hotel’s bronze plaques, planters and even the fire hydrants, to create a unified and cohesive facade.
