When a former Vice President sought an extraordinary centerpiece for his home, he turned to the exceptional talent of Jaroff Studio. The result was a breathtaking 16-foot diameter portal sundial, designed to crown the front entry portico of his residence.
Jaroff Studio meticulously conceived, modeled, engineered, fabricated, and installed this monumental dome, crafted from compound-bent, laminated, and chemically tempered glass. The structure is encased in a sleek, 1-inch-thick bead-blasted stainless steel frame, harmonizing beautifully with the residence's rustic stone façade.
The dome features a circular oculus at its heart that channels sunlight to a medallion embedded in the entryway floor. This unique design creates a celestial tribute, casting a beam of light to commemorate the birthdays of the homeowner’s grandchildren in an awe-inspiring display.
